There are so many places looking for someone to write something for them. Schools, local charities, theaters to name a few. Online magazines, newsletters and special reports. Writing short paragraphs will also allow you to make money again while you are practicing. Do you have 5 minutes?

Most businesses could use a hand with writing about their business so they can share it with their customers.

Think outside the normal writing you might think of and add your ability to their need to write about what they want to communicate with others. Most people freeze up when it comes to writing and you can help them get un-thawed.

Why not find someone to help? You get to practice (don’t tell them that) and they get to benefit.

Everyone needs encouragement when it comes to writing and communicating with others. Help out while you are in the learning process.

There are so many things going on that it would be very difficult not to be able to find something you could write about. Remember, even those authors who now have best sellers started somewhere. Make today your day to begin.

I recently went for a walk in the new area where I live to see some of the sights that were near my new home. Coming to a field of grass and clover, I had a flashback to lying in a field next to my childhood home.

It was a beautiful summer day and I was enjoying the day contemplating the wind in the grass while listening to the family laugh while mom finished getting the picnic ready.

This was a happy memory of spending time with the family and the fun we had that day. It would make a great beginning to a story that could be shared with the family.

Memories of events have great value for your documentation of your family history. When you have a memory, start to write about it as if you were still there experiencing it.

When and where might you have a memory from the past that you can begin to write about?

Just a few days ago the USA celebrated the fourth of July which is their independence day celebration. Oh, the picnics, concerts and fireworks that were on the schedule. Lots of good material to write about: from family traditions to favorite outings to favorite foods.

I remember hearing that the hot dog eating champion won again by eating over 50 hot dogs on buns in just a very short time. Wow, I wonder how that competition got started? Now there is a story!

From eating competitions to parades in all of that activity, there are things to write about. So get those writing instruments out and enjoy jotting down the details of your favorite holiday and the things that make it special to you.

We are always looking for a good story, and who knows, maybe your favorite will become a favorite of others as well.

Find a subject or topic you like and write a short article about why your view of the world is the one everyone should follow. This type of writing will give you a debate perspective and your objective with that is to convince your audience that your perspective is correct and they should change their mind.

Then, for fun, see if you can write about why this perspective is wrong and people should not follow it.

You can learn a great deal while doing this type of writing and in sharing both sides of the subject matter. See where points from each side could be put together to form a new way of looking at life and creating a new perspective that would work better for anyone who might want to accept the combined perspective.

As usual, have fun and keep your writing interesting to you as well as to your reader.

One of the ways to keep the interest of the reader is to add unexpected twists to your story line. it is like the cliff hanger at the end of a tv series that makes you curious enough about what the new season will bring that you look forward to seeing the season premier.

Think about what the endings of those tv shows made you think about or wonder about and see how that type of questions made you feel about the ending that you saw. This is the way to add those questions into what you are writing about so the interest is increased in you reader just like it was increased in you.

As you look around you, there are unlimited topics to write about that are just waiting for your opinion to be expressed. Over the past few days it seems like more ideas and things to write about came as a result of watching movies and relaxing. That is because when you relax, it gives the right brain a chance to pop in with content that you are not able to hear when you are in left brain, have to get it done, life mode.

See if you can find even 5 minutes to jot down the ideas you got. You can always add them to the “I’ll get back to finishing that later” file. If you do not jot the idea down, when you do have time and want to recall the idea, it will be gone. So, capture it while it is fresh in your mind so you will have it later.

In a conversation with someone I just met, we were talking about all of the changes that had taken place in the world around us over the past few years and how we needed to update and adjust so the information we were using was current.

It would be fun to take a topic and look back to see how it was communicated say 5 years ago, 10 years ago and contrast that with today. Who knew we would have email rather than regular mail and how that has changed our lives or just being able to use the internet to share information with others around the world.

I’m just as happy riding across country in a car rather than on a horse, for example. Can’t imagine not having some of these conveniences in my life. How about you?

This is a sample of one of the exercises to help you find the type of writing you like ex: do you like drama, comedy and/or another type. You can find more exercises to help you at http://www.freecreativewritingstrategies.com in determining your favorite writing type and how to become more creative doing that type of writing.

Try Another Ending

When doing creative writing, have several different endings you might like to choose from after you complete your main writing section.

Read each version of your story, check to see which ending you resonate with most. Do this several times. Choose the one you like most and then put the other ending(s) in a file for possible use with another story at a later time.

Also, begin to collect topics that would interest you enough to write about them. Add any notes about them that might
help you get the idea for your stories started quickly enough that you can grab one and begin easily.

Use these files for days when you need an inspiration jumpstart. Then look through your endings file and see if you have the ingredients to put together a complete story.

Often stories are re-written with a different ending and it creates an entirely new story.

If you would like to get all of the exercises in a workbook format so you have a place to write out the exercise under the directions go to http://creativewritingstrategies.com Having the information together is a great way to sort for your style.

Rate how you liked the type of writing on the page so when you see you gave one writing exercise only a 3 star and the next one you gave a 4 star you have the information about your response to that exercise and style. If you do not keep track at the time you do the exercise, over time you will not remember how you felt in your response as you were writing. Evaluate for was it hard to think of something to write. Was it fun. Did you enjoy writing in that style, etc.
